71st Annual West Tennessee Strawberry Festival Checker Tournament
May 9th & 10th, 2008 (Friday & Saturday)

at the "The Regions Bank," 1214 Main Street, downtown Humboldt, TN.  Same location as in the past years.  Business meeting and Registration at 8:30AM on Friday, May 9th with play to begin at 9:00AM, and continues until May 10 and expected to end around 2:00PM on Saturday.  Frank and Mary Davis will again be referee and score keeper.  The Humboldt Chamber of Commerce and the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival will again sponsor this tournament.  We will again have plenty of free food from the restaurants!  You won't  have to go outside to eat or leave the bank unless you want to.  Playing area is excellent; upstairs (has elevator).  We always have a very good prize fund, between two and three thousand dollars in cash prizes.  Free food, door prizes, drawing for tickets to fine restaurants.  Please call early as possible for reservations. Tell them you are there for the checker tournament.

  1. Deerfield Inn (731-824-4770) - 590 Hwy45 By-pass; King size bed $39.95 ($42 tax included); Double Beds $45.99 ($52 tax included).  Hugh Burton recommend this one, but you have to call early, as it fills up quickly

  3. The Regal Inn (731-784-9693) - 618 N. 22nd Ave. Single $35.00 & Double $40.00. Tell them you are a checker player.

Take I-40 to Jackson, TN, take 45 By-Pass N. (Exit 80-B.), 14 miles to Humboldt.
